Katie will climb Snowdon, age 8
AN eight-year-schoolgirl and her stepdad are to climb 3,500 ft up Mount Snowdon to raise money for two charities.
Portishead Primary School student Katie Scanlan and her stepdad Stuart Rockell will be climbing three- and-a-half miles up North Wales's famous mountain on October 6 to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Portishead Lifeboat Trust.
Katie, a keen walker, has been getting in training for the challenge by going out on four-mile walks with her stepdad.
The pair, who estimate the climb will take around four hours, hope to raise £1,000 for each charity and have already collected £750 in sponsorship between them.
