Karis is named top junior chef
TWELVE students from across the city were feeling the heat when they took part in Bristol Junior Chef 2012.
Now in its ninth year, the competition involved a week of training by an three-hour competition.
Karis Thomas, from Merchant Academy, came away with the prestigious Bristol Junior Chef award thanks to her chicken pie and chocolate mousse. Karis said: "I can't believe I won. This has been a great day – I've loved every minute of it."
Chefs from top hotels around Bristol mentored the students. This year's judges included Josh Eggleton from the Pony and Trap, Andy Brooks, head chef at the Novotel Hotel and George Opondo, head chef from the Thistle Hotel.
