Judd Trump joins the Premier League after Selby win
Keynsham snooker ace Judd Trump is jumping for joy having qualified for the Sky Sports Premier League at the first attempt.
Having won his qualifying group, the 19-year-old finished second in the Winners' Group behind former Masters champion Mark Selby.
Through to the semi-final, the provisional world No 29 then fought back from 2-0 down to beat Londoner Stuart Bingham 3-2, before clinching a 3-2 win over Selby in the final.
Trump will compete against the player who wins the 2009 World Championship, 2008 Premier League champion Ronnie O'sullivan and four wildcard picks.
"It's a brilliant achievement to be playing in the Premier League," said Trump.
"I've always watched the Premier League every Thursday, so to be in it will be brilliant and I'm going to enjoy it.
"I will be seen by a lot more people and the general public will be able to see what I can do and it may help me get to the top of the rankings.
"It will be brilliant match practice and hopefully I will quickly get used to the (25-second) shot-clock in the Premier League.
"I fancy beating anyone in it on my day. Everyone will be more used to the competition and the format but Joe Perry and Mark Selby were in it and did well last year. Mark got to the final, so if they can do it, why can't I?
"This is and will be the best experience so far in my career."
Trump's exploits have earned him £20,700, the largest amount of prize money for one event in his career so far. O'sullivan won more than £75,000 for winning the 2008 Premier League.
Trump had finished second after the league phase, having only lost once in six matches.
"I just tried to concentrate on this tournament and didn't feel any pressure," added Trump. "I felt quite calm but a few things didn't go right for me in the second frame of the final but I just took my chances."
