First the Whitchurch man cruised to a 5-1 first-round win over wildcard qualifier Paul Davison in the morning.
Trump pinched a scrappy opener, before Davison levelled with a break of 78.
But it was one-way traffic after that as Trump pocketed breaks of 50, 75, 60 and 81 to triumph in just 75 minutes.
"I felt really good, but I've been feeling good for a while now," added Trump. "While I'm in this type of form, I want to win as many titles as I can, I feel really confident."
And with victory the world No 5 set up a mouth-watering evening showdown with Ulsterman Mark Allen in a repeat of the UK Championship final he won in December.
In his earlier match, Allen had to battle back from 4-1 down, and needing snookers in the deciding frame, to beat Tom Ford 5-4.
Trump led 2-0 in last night's match and, though Allen halved the deficit, the Bristolian surged 3-1 ahead despite missing out on a century.
He went 4-1 up before Allen responded again, but Trump came from 47-26 down to take frame seven and the match.
He now faces a quarter-final tonight against Stephen Maguire, who inflicted a whitewash on the world champion John Higgins in their second-round clash. Higgins' highest break was just 33 as he was beaten 5-0 for the first time since Karl Burrows routed him in the 1996 Asian Classic.
The 22-year-old Trump added: "I want to keep my momentum going at this event. I'm looking forward to another test in the next round.
"The crowd are great here, they appreciate snooker and they respond to good breaks."
Meanwhile, Ronnie O'Sullivan battled back from 4-0 down for a vital and dramatic 5-4 win over Andrew Higginson in the first round.
O'Sullivan has fallen down the rankings to number 16 in the world and went into the tournament needing to pick up points to ensure he retains his automatic place in April's World Championship.
