Joseph tells his story of Jesus at Bristol church play
A play that tells the story of Jesus through the eyes of his father is coming to a Bristol church.
Two performances of Jesus My Boy – The Joseph Story will take place at St Barnabas Church in Warmley on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24 at 7.30pm.
Written by John Dowie, the monologue piece gives Joseph's take on all things to do with being the father of Jesus, from his beginnings in Bethlehem, his journey to Nazareth, marriage and bringing up 'The Boy'.
Finally, his narrative turns to the crucifixion and his pain at his son's death.
Originally performed by Tom Conti in London and broadcast on BBC Radio 4, Joseph will be played by well-known local actor John Sibley, who is a member of the Warmley Players.
Mr Sibley said: "It is a play that shows all emotions. It will make you think about what it was like to be in Joseph's shoes.
"Above all, it is very entertaining and thought provoking, as well as being a huge personal challenge to perform."
Tickets, which are £5, are available in the church on Saturday or Sunday mornings, or by contacting John Sibley on 937 2933.
