Johnson rues Bristol City's injury jinx as concern grows over Agyemang
Patrick Agyemang has become the latest Bristol City new-boy to fall foul of the club's injury jinx.
Signed on loan from Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers in January, he managed just four appearances for the Robins before being struck down by illness.

And the former Ghana international striker, pictured left, has now sustained a groin injury which could keep him out of action for the foreseeable future.
City boss Gary Johnson and his medical team are so concerned that they have sent Agyemang for a hospital scan and are awaiting the results.
Should the problem be worse than first thought, and Wolves decide to recall Chris Iwelumo after the weekend, City's manager could find himself short of attacking options.
He will still be able to call upon 11-goal top scorer Nicky Maynard, Scottland international David Clarkson and winger-cum-forward Danny Haynes, but may no longer have the option of selecting an experienced targetman who can hold the ball up and win headers.
"It is a bit of a concern," admitted Johnson, who has decided to keep young striker John Akinde at Ashton Gate as a precaution, rather than send him out on loan.
"First of all, Patrick had an illness which kept him out for a couple of games, and now it's an injury which is stopping him.
"We've taken medical advice, he has had a scan and all we can do now is wait and keep our fingers crossed."
Agyemang is the latest in a series of new signings to experience misfortune after joining the Ashton Gate staff this season.
Lithuanian international forward Andrius Velicka arrived on loan from Scottish giants Rangers in August, but lasted just five minutes before rupturing his cruciate ligament after he came on as a second-half substitute in the home game against QPR.
Former Motherwell hit-man Clarkson had managed only a handful of outings before he was struck down by a mystery illness, which also affected fellow newcomers Lewin Nyatanga and Dean Gerken.
In Clarkson's case, it was December before he was fit enough to resume first-team duties.
Dutch midfielder Evander Sno, signed on a season-long loan from Ajax, suffered a serious back injury during the warm-up at Watford on February 9, while January acquisition Jamal Campbell-Ryce was ruled out for a month when damaging his calf.
Johnson said: "It feels as though we are jinxed. It's happened so often to so many of our new signings that you wonder if someone up there has got it in for us.
"We're looking to do a bit more business before the deadline for loan signings later this month, but it wouldn't surprise me if players saw what was going on here and decided not to join us!"
Meanwhile, Scottish international Iwelumo insists he has no idea where his immediate future lies. Watched by Wolves manager Mick McCarthy, the veteran target man scored a wonderful match-winning goal at Crystal Palace in midweek to confirm his return to full fitness and top form.
"I've not been told anything," declared Iwelumo, who has made six appearances and scored twice since arriving on a one month loan in February.
"I'll see what is happening here by speaking to the gaffer and then speak to Mick McCarthy. I cannot tell you any more at the moment.
"I'm enjoying my time with the club. There is a great bunch of lads here and I'm loving playing games and scoring goals, so I can't complain."
Wolves boss McCarthy was giving nothing away when he told the Express and Star newspaper: "I have not decided yet. I've sent him out to get some games and it may be that we let him stay, it may be we bring him back."
A decision is expected after City take on Reading at the Madjeski Stadium on Saturday.

“John of Shire also needs to learn how to spell the word STRIKER.”

“Interested that John of Shire feels Maynard didn't set League One alight, 32 goals in 55 appearances for Crewe is really shabby, isn't it?”

“If I was cynical I would be thinking it was no coincidence that some players long term illness or injuries coincide with them being off form, just crap, out of favour with GJ or all three, thus player and manager save face.”

“John, Shire - not going to get into the rest of the argument about GJs buying record but I've got to take you to task on Maynard, and I think 99% of fans would agree.
He's quick, makes excellent runs off the ball (our midfield often struggle to spot him early enough), works hard and can score goals near and far.
His touch and control is often excellent and if he were in a different team or formation I'm convinced he would actually be "setting the league on fire" to quote you.
He could improve his heading and hold-up play but that will come with more experience and from playing alongside the likes of Iwelumo.
For his age and relevant experience he remains (potentially) good value for money.
How do you qualify that? Is Chopra good value for money at £4m - amongst the top scorers but only scored 4-5 goals in the last 20 games?
Unless you can spend £4m+ on the likes of Chopra, Earnshaw, Beattie, Fuller to name some of the best strikers to have played at this level in the past few years, then you are stuck resorting to finding a 'gem' from lower leagues or abroad.
I'll give you two examples: I bet Swansea fans were hardly jumping for joy when they signed Jason Scotland for £200k - "who's he" would have been a common question.
Equally I bet Ipswich fans were excited at signing David Healy - a highly proven goal-scorer at international level - done very little at this level.
Finding a top striker is the hardest job in football - that's why the obviously best ones are so damn expensive!
If we could sign Iwelumo permanently that would give us one of the strongest striking partnerships in the league next season - bring it on!!”

“@ ben.. Maynard has been crap, tell me what Maynard has done to make you think he will get better. We paid over 2 mil for maynard and that is a lot of money for a kid who hardly set the world alight in League 1. I see you have no argument to my other claims so get back in your box ben, if you ever watch city you would know how crap we are, Maynard is at the very best an average stricker, he's now in his 20's not teens, so hardly young. Grow up you clown”
