Gary Johnson was keen to accentuate the positives after his Bristol City side were paired with Leicester in the fourth round of the FA Cup, writes Andy Stockhausen.

City still have to overcome Severnside rivals Cardiff in a rearranged third-round tie at Ashton Gate a week tomorrow before they can think about taking on the Foxes.

But manager Johnson believes a home draw against Coca-Cola Championship opposition represents a perfect incentive for his players to beat the Bluebirds.

"It's a home draw and we cannot ask for a lot more than that," said the Londoner.

"Of course, it's all hypothetical at the moment, because we still have a massive job on our hands getting past Cardiff.

"But if we get past them, then we know we have a tie in the next round that is winnable.

"Leicester are a side we know all about and there will be no surprises in store, either for ourselves or Cardiff."

City fans will be disappointed to have missed out on a potential glamour tie against Premier League opposition and Johnson admitted: "Leicester at home is not the most exciting draw in the world. It's always a bit disappointing when you come out of the hat with another Championship side. If we get to play Leicester, I would expect it to be very like the league games we have played against them.

"There weren't that many ties in the draw that caught the imagination anyway and we must not complain.

"Preston deserved their home game against Chelsea after beat Colchester 7-0 and that looks a likely candidate for television. I reckon we'll have to get to the final before we're picked for live coverage!"

Johnson is confident the draw will not prove a distraction to his players, who take on Crystal Palace in the Championship at Selhurst Park on Saturday before hosting Cardiff in the third round on Tuesday, January 12.

"Had we got an Arsenal or a Liverpool, there would have been a lot of excitement and we might have taken our eye off the Cardiff game.

"We are very aware that we have to get over Cardiff before we can even think about the fourth round.

"If we beat Cardiff next week, then we will look forward to playing Leicester, but not before."

Should City prevail in the rearranged third round tie, they will meet Nigel Pearson's Foxes at Ashton Gate on Saturday, January 23.

Meanwhile, Forest Green Rovers were handed the perfect incentive to overcome Notts County in another third-round tie which fell victim to the big freeze this weekend.

Victory at Meadow Lane next week will earn the Blue Square Premier side a home clash against Premier League Wigan Athletic in the next round.

“We have to be happy with a home draw even though we have yet to get past Cardiff.

As Gary states, it's another winnable tie but it's important that City don't look that far ahead as we have two tough games to come against Championship opposition.

Would be nice if we can have a good cup run to generate some extra income and hopefully our cup form can rub off in the league.

Does anyone know if Setanta Sports are showing the rearranged game live overseas?”
