John Packwood: A candle-lit night with Vivaldi
Bristol Vivaldi lovers are in for a candle-lit treat on Saturday night.
Emerald Ensemble present Vivaldi By Candlelight at St George's at 7.30pm.

They play wonderful concertos and cantatas performed in true Italian style. Roger Huckle is director and violin soloist and other soloists come from the ensemble. Tickets from £8 to £18 from the box office on 0845 4024001.
The same evening, Yatton Music Society at St Mary's Church, Yatton, offers Sense and Sensibilities, which contains readings and music associated with Jane Austen. It starts at 7.30pm and tickets for non-members are £8. For more information, call 01934 834127.
On Tuesday, February 3, David Bednall (organ) gives a recital in Bristol Cathedral at 1.15pm. Admission is free. The following day, Graham Alsop also gives an organ recital of Marcel Dupre's Le Tombeau de Titelouzeat at 1.10pm, at Christ Church, Broad Street. Also free.
At the Vic Rooms at 1.15pm on the same day, George Humphries (bass baritone) presents a programme of songs by Vaughan Williams, Stanford and Ravel.
Thursday sees the latest Lunchtime Classics at St George's at 1pm. Katherine Jenkinson (cello) and Alison Farr (piano) play two popular sonatas for this combination, Beethoven's Opus 102 in D and Brahms Opus 99.
Advance warning on two events. On Friday, February 6, eminent tenor Mark Padmore presents Songs In Time Of War. And on Saturday, February 7, Bristol Choral Society in the first of their Come and Sing days offer Handel's Israel in Egypt at Tyndale Baptist Church from 10am to 4pm.
