The killers of Whitchurch teenager Joe Dymond-Williams will be sentenced next month.

A jury last week found Thomas Swift, aged 18, of Ellfield Close, Highridge, guilty of murdering 17-year-old Joe.

Swift's friend Jack Sanderson-Hunt, also 18, of Dundry View, Knowle Park, earlier pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

The pair had been due to be sentenced today but delays caused by the need to prepare further pre-sentence reports mean that they will now appear on June 12.

Swift will receive a mandatory life sentence, with a minimum term of imprisonment, while Sanderson-Hunt could also face a life sentence at the judge's discretion.

Swift's murder trial heard how St Brendan's Sixth Form College student Joe was felled by a single punch from Sanderson-Hunt as he tried to stop a row in Queen Charlotte Street, in the city centre, on June 21 last year.

As he lay unconscious with a fractured skull, Swift kicked his head "like a football" to the right temple, causing a second fracture.

Joe died two weeks later of head injuries.
