A craftsman known for his innovative jewellery and enamelling techniques will visit Bristol this summer to take up residency at the University of the West of England.

The Centre for Fine Print Research is playing host to Professor Robert Ebendorf, in residence from July 22 until August 3.

He will create new work for an exhibition at UWE's Bower Ashton Campus, to be shown during the Impact conference for printmakers in September.

Elizabeth Turrell, from UWE's enamel research unit, said: "Robert Ebendorf is a leader in the field of contemporary craft, an innovator in American jewellery and is globally renowned for his enamel work.

"Since the 1960s he has been one of the leaders in exploring alternative materials and has pioneered that most American of jewellery forms, narrative jewellery.

"Famous for finding objects that are underappreciated or overlooked by society, Professor Ebendorf gives them a new life. Objects such as fossils, claws, or even pull tops have found their way into his art."
