Jefferies claims third win in four days at Hunstrete
An overnight influx of cold rain lowered water temperatures and weights tumbled accordingly in the Bathampton AA Disabled & Over-55's Thursday match fished at Hunstrete.
Unsurprisingly, Bridge Pool fished well below its best and Steve Jeffries needed just 39-2-0 of carp to clinch his third victory in four days.
The Avon Angling man poled both paste and 8mm soft pellet at a variety of distances and depths off disabled peg seven and weighed in carp to almost 8lb.
Rich Coles came second at neighbouring peg eight where the same tactics brought him a 12lb carp plus 7-5-0 of silverfish.
Bathampton AA veteran, Terry Bruton topped the silverfish list with 9-9-0 of skimmers and roach taken from the lakeside margins of 17 with a variety of baits.
Result, overall: 1, Steve Jeffries (Avon Angling) 39-2-0, Top Peg 7; 2, Rich Coles 19-5-0, peg 8; 3, Terry Bruton 16-13-0, peg 17; 4, Mike Nicholls 16-4-0, peg 23; 5, Pete Philips 15-2-0, peg 28; 6, Mike Jones 14-4-0, peg 26. Silverfish: 1, Terry Bruton 9-9-0 peg 17; 2, Pete Briar 8-13-0, peg 11; 3, Mike Nicholls 8-12-0, peg 23.
Following his 37-8-0 win in the Bitterwell Lake Monday series, which was reported in last week's Evening Post, Jeffries knocked-out his second win of the week during the Carps AC's Wednesday visit to Cider Farm Lakes at Lympsham.
He poled 8mm soft pellet over the same at 11 metres off end peg five and did well to tempt 75-4-0 of carp from a wind hit Shepherds Lake.
Andy Gard picked-up the silverfish pools money. The Alcove AC member used a variety of baits at peg 13 and it was bread that tempted the majority.
Result, (12 fished) overall: 1, Steve Jeffries 75-4-0, peg 5; 2, Mike Owens (Sensas Thyers) 71-8-0, peg 9; 3, John Thompson 42-6-0, peg 18; 4, Bob "The Bread" Price (Alcove AC) 31-12-0, peg 15; 5, Rich Coles 31-0-0, peg 12; 6, Dave Roper 30-11-0, peg 1. Silverfish: 1, Andy Gard (Alcove AC) 19-11-0, peg 13; 2, Mike Nicholls 19-3-0, peg 19.
