Internet cafe needs new Congresbury home
An internet cafe in Congresbury is looking for a new base in the village after growing out of its premises.
Congresbury Cybercafe has been based at the Refectory at St Andrew's Church for several years and is run by the village's youth partnership group.
But the club, which attracts more than 40 youngsters a week to its sessions, is being forced to look for a new base to cope with the growing amount of people wanting to join.
Cafe leaders have launched a hunt for new premises in the village and are talking to Congresbury Parish Council about the possibility of moving the cafe into the Old School Rooms.
The parish council is planning to launch a feasibility study into whether it is practical for the cafe to set up home there.
The Old School Rooms is owned by the parish council which, as well as having its offices there, rents out the building to community organisations such as dance schools.
Cyber cafe manager Ian Sheppard said: "It is a shame we have to move but the premises at the church aren't really suitable for our needs."
The cafe opens on a Monday and a Wednesday between 3.15-5pm and on a Thursday evening. It is hoping to expand and launch a new session on a Thursday afternoon.
The Cybercafe has seven computers, two Wii, playstations and an Xbox360 for the youngsters to use.
Congresbury Parish Council also runs a session on a Wednesday between 1-3pm for villagers wanting to learn more about the internet and carry out research.
If you can help the cyber cafe, call Mr Sheppard on 01934 835291.
