“James, the pure and simple reason that Cardiff got a test match is that the bid and paid, a LOT of money.
I'd imagine that apart from Lords tests everything is up for grabs to the highest bidder.”

“So Bristol gets the booby prize in international cricket - one day or test.
The crowd will be small giving the ECB the chance to say international cricket is not supported in Bristol.
I'm still wondering how Cardiff with its small capacity got a test match let alone an Ashes test let alone the first Ashes test in the series.
They should have started with a test against Bangladesh and then, if supported well enough, worked their way slowly up the test nations in future years.”

“Taunton on 2nd September much more appealing and no doubt at least half the price of the England game to be played in Bristol”
