“James, the pure and simple reason that Cardiff got a test match is that the bid and paid, a LOT of money.
I'd imagine that apart from Lords tests everything is up for grabs to the highest bidder.”

“So Bristol gets the booby prize in international cricket - one day or test.
The crowd will be small giving the ECB the chance to say international cricket is not supported in Bristol.
I'm still wondering how Cardiff with its small capacity got a test match let alone an Ashes test let alone the first Ashes test in the series.
They should have started with a test against Bangladesh and then, if supported well enough, worked their way slowly up the test nations in future years.”

“Yeah I think I'll give it a miss if its over 40 quid a ticket..its not really worht paying the money to watch poor teams play while having to queue for hours for beer”

“Taunton on 2nd September much more appealing and no doubt at least half the price of the England game to be played in Bristol”

“Wibble - actually the ECB have already announced that Bristol will be hosting Sri Lanka in an international Twenty20 in 2011.
Definitely the prices should be dropped though. This summer I attended three days of international cricket: The ODI in Bristol (v West Indies), the first day of the first Ashes test in Cardiff, and the third day of the final Ashes test at The Oval, and the Bristol game was by far the most expensive - how does that work?”

“Wooo !! Date of high profile game with Bangladesh confirmed. Unless the prices are dropped to a realistic level they might have a bit of trouble getting this one to sell out. Methinks a few of the England regular players might suddenly be suffering a little strain when this one comes around and give it a miss.
It's a shame Bristol was unable to get one of the TEN one day internationals that England will be playing next year against Australia and Pakistan.
As for 2011... nothing yet scheduled for Bristol and only two games yet to be allocated to grounds, these being the 20/20 games against Sri Lanka and India. Hopefully we might get one of these, better than nothing I suppose.”

“Wooo high profile game confirmed against Bangladesh. Unless they drop the prices to a reasonable level they might struggle to sell this one to the public. Full house ? I have my doubts.
