TWO potentially dangerous inmates have absconded from Leyhill Open Prison in South Gloucestershire.

Stephen Rees, 31, and Liam Ahearne, 24, absconded from the prison at 9pm on January 30.

Ahearne was serving an indeterminate sentence for aggravated burglary and Rees serving a sentence for wounding.

It is believed the men have connections with the South West area as well as the Merthyr area and Rhymney Valley, in particular the Blackwood, Markham and Bargoed areas.
