Second-placed Ingleside kept the the pressure on Suburban League Division III leaders Mangotsfield A with a comfortable victory over Eagle House Elite.

Nico Mashorn opened the scoring early on for Ingleside and Nick Pallinger doubled their lead moments later. Paul Cooper pulled one back for Eagle House, who are fourth in the table, but Ingleside responded instantly with a fabulous goal from Sam Rendall, who went on to complete his his hat-trick.

Ingleside manager Mike Edmond said: "It was an excellent performance. We've worked hard all season and if we can maintain our performance we will go up. Everyone was great today, from the players to the kitman to the fans."

Ingleside took the lead after 15 minutes. Mashorn made a run from deep to beat the offside, collect a long ball upfield and and lob Eagle House keeper Mario Billiteri as he advanced from goal.

Pallinger added a second after some slack Eagle House defending following another long ball. Dean Richards missed his clearance just outside the box to let in Pallinger, took his shot early and beat Billiteri.

Eagle House Elite got themselves back into the game when Cooper met a wonderful free-kick from Ricky Nelmes to head in at the far post.

But their joy was short-lived as Ingleside hit back straight away with the goal of the game from Rendall.

Picking up the ball on the left side of the area, he dragged it back on to his right foot before curling the ball into the far corner of the net.

Eagle House came out for the second time looking for a way back into the game. But as they committed men forward they gave Ingleside the chance to attack them on the break.

It should have been 3-1 when Rendall raced clear, rounded the keeper and smashed the ball into the net. The ball was hit so hard it went underneath the goal net and beyond and the referee failed to award what was a clear goal.

Eagle House Elite created a number of chances, mainly from set-pieces. Cooper headed a Nelmes corner inches over the bar and the same player forced a great save from Ingleside keeper Rob Chase, who dived to his left to claw out a close-range header following a Michael Donagan corner.

Dale Rhodes also brought the best out of Chase with a looping free-kick from 30 yards which the keeper managed to touch over the bar.

Another counter-attack led to Ingleside's fourth goal. Rendall ran from inside his own half, beating the last defender with ease, before putting the ball into the top left corner.

Rendall completed his hat-trick a minute later in similar circumstances. Receiving the ball on the halfway line, he went through one on one and finished confidently to give Ingleside a 5-1 victory.

Ingleside were full value for their victory. They dominated the first 20 minutes and took their chances well, although they were helped by some poor Eagle House defending.

The home side put on plenty of pressure in the second half but were not clinical enough in the final third and paid the price when Rendal twice caught them on the break in the final minutes.

The biggest difference between the teams were Ingleside's two strikers; Rendall and Pallinger. Both were a constant threat throughout the game, showing good pace and a lethal finishing ability.
