Local businesses in Bristol are being invited to take part in a brand new Channel 4 series hosted by 'Queen of Shops' Mary Portas.

Following her government review on the state of the UKs high streets, the new series sees Ms Portas working with small independent shops to implement some of her ideas with the aim of breathing life back into local shopping areas.

Shop by shop, she wants to transform the high-street into a centre for socialising and deliver the kind of service that will give locals a reason to go there.

Now Channel 4 want to hear from small independent shops and businesses that are struggling to survive or expand.

The producers of the show are looking for all types of retailers to take part, local DIY stores to bridal shops, bakeries, sports shops, car dealerships, newsagents and more.

As part of the programme, successful applicants will receive advice and guidance from Ms Portas, who is credited with turning Harvey Nichols into a leading fashion brand.

Local business owners who would like to find out more or want to apply to be involved should e-mail maryp@optomen.com or call 0203 227 5896.
