Steve Elliott believes Bristol Rovers' impressive recent away form can be a springboard for a surge up the League One table over the final part of the season.

The Pirates have conceded only one goal in their last four outings on opposition soil and are looking for their fourth victory in five away games at Walsall today.

Central defender Elliott said: "Results breed confidence and we have that – especially away from home.

"We look solid at the back and clean sheets on the road have been a foundation for everything."

Rovers are in the middle of a run of three away games – they travel to Crewe for a rearranged match on Tuesday – and their recent haul of 10 points from 12 on their travels is in stark contrast to a poor run of results earlier in the season.

"We had a long, hard look at our away form and tweaked a few things," said Elliott.

"You can't legislate for individual errors and mistakes do happen in football, but at the moment we seem to have wiped them out.

"We worked hard on the training ground at playing on the counter-attack and our finishing has been tremendous. It's all coming together.

"The squad's performing to the best of its abilities at the minute.

"There's competition for places and you know that if you have a bad game you could find yourself out of the team.

"That's one of the reasons everybody's playing well. We suffered after picking up a lot of injuries in pre-season which made the first half a bit stop-start.

"We had a makeshift team at times, which doesn't help you get any continuity or rhythm.

"We've got games in hand on other sides, although some still to come are tough ones against teams above us. But our aim is to keep getting the wins and see where it takes us."

Rovers will check on skipper Stuart Campbell's fitness before naming their side for the Banks's Stadium clash.

The midfielder missed the 3-0 win at Hereford United on Tuesday through illness.

Rovers are again running a three-for-two offer which means fans can watch a game for free later this month.

Supporters who buy a ticket for the Peterborough game on March 21, the Stockport clash on March 28 and the Huddersfield game on March 31 will only have to pay for two of their three tickets.

The offer only applies to tickets bought in advance and all three must be purchased at the same time before 5pm on Friday, March 20.
