Winner: Ilaria Pignatelli is crowned Miss Bristol
She will now act as an ambassador for the city, as well as going forward to the Miss England competition with her eye on the Miss World crown.
An audience of family, friends, business and sports names backed the event which saw contestants compete in three rounds – evening wear, eco-wear and a question and answer session.
The event was organised by Richard Hillier, 57, and Simon Dewey, 46, managing directors of Stages Hair Design.
Mr Hillier said: "Last year's winner Amy Willerton has been a great ambassador for Bristol. She is beautiful and talented and has put Bristol on the map and we hope that Ilaria can continue her good work.
"We had 63 girls in the beginning so it has been an exciting contest. We'd like to thank everyone who has given support."
Miss Pignatelli wore a long pink dress for the evening-wear round and a laundry basket outfit complete with hat for the eco-wear round. She said she had dreams of opening a dance school for disadvantaged children.
As well as the overall crown there were prizes for Miss Eco, won by Paige-Marie Edwards for her outfit made using recycled rubbish, and Miss Beautiful Hair, won by 20-year-old Sasha Priddy. Runners up Miss Priddy and 21-year-old Grace Levy were also highly commended by judges.

“Hey! I don't work for the BEP... But I had a fantastic time making my dress and I'm sure my young nephew did too. I can't wait to get stuck in on the avents ahead of me. And well done to our new Miss Bristol, she made me very welcome yesterday not knowing who I was, she will do very well as a nurse and as an ambassador to bristol; she deserves it. So let's not get all worried about where it was held.. It was an experience of a life time for me; so I'm happy as larry! :D”

“@ Rachel
I guess that Tesco are sponsoring the "event". I agree with you, though. "Tesco's Finest" is pretty tacky. I presume the second prize was a box of Polish chocolates :(”

Works for the BEP, does she?”

“YOU ARE ALL WRONG
The event was held at Fry's club so technically she should be named Miss Fry Club. Or Miss Creme Egg if you want but personally I think that would be ludicrous.”

“I'm sorry, but half of Europe knows it's Keynsham, Bristol.
For many years the second most powerful transmitter in Europe blared out, every quarter hour:
"Horace Batchelor, In-for-a-drawl Method, Keynsham, (K-E-Y-N-S-H-A-M), Bristol"”

“Right 2 things....
First of all...is the location of the competition really that important? Do you really have nothing else to worry about other than whether Keynsham is Bristol or BANES?
Secondly....could they not have taken the label off the bunch of flowers? I suppose it shows just how classy people are...they win Miss Bristol and get given a bunch of Tesco Finest flowers. I'd be excited....”

“@Chris
There are 2 possible answers and neither of them is Miss Keynsham.
1) The contestant is from Bristol, the organiser is from Bristol, the competition is called "Miss Bristol". Therefore it is Miss Bristol.
or
2) The crown should be named after the area in which it is actually announced. The Miss England competition is divided according to authority area. Therefore she is "Miss BANES"
I'll go with option 1.”

“Pedants!!
Rightly or wrongly, Keynsham comes under Bristol. Its council however, is BANES.
Where do you think Keynsham is then? The Cotswalds?
Back on topic, she's average. There are better examples of beauty in Keynsham. Like John Bodman and the bearded lady to name just two.”
