Ikea "bomb plot": Jury retires to consider verdict

A JURY considering the case of a man accused of falsely sparking a bomb alert at Bristol's Ikea branch to frame a love rival was due to begin considering its verdict today.

Ayman Ibrahim is accused of phoning the Swedish furniture seller's national call centre and claiming to have information about a plot to attack the store and implicated Bartosz Ociepka, who lived in Barton Hill.

The prosecution claims he did so because Ociepka had been in a relationship with Ibrahim's ex-wife, who lived in Hengrove and he wanted his love rival deported from the UK.

The 46-year-old defendant denies communicating false information with intent on December 30, 2011.

Ibrahim has told the jury at Gloucester Crown Court he had reported Mr Ociepka to the police but had genuinely been concerned the Polish national was involved in a plot against the Ikea store. He claims he told an Ikea worker those involved were going to "storm", not bomb, the store.
