'Hypocrite' call on Hooters
A PROTESTER against controversial restaurant chain Hooters was accused of "breaching decency" when he suggested men might not get waiters' jobs if their anatomy was not big enough.
Campaigner Chez Chesney was one of a number of members of the public who spoke out against Bristol City Council's decision to allow the American restaurant chain, whose waitresses wear a uniform of skimpy, tight-fitting vests and shorts, to open a branch at Millennium Square.
During public speaking time at last night's full council meeting, Mr Chesney told councillors about a dream he had, about a fictional restaurant that only hired men.
But as he started to ask councillors how they would feel if potential waiters might not be given a job if their private parts were not big enough, he was interrupted.
Lord Mayor Colin Smith, who chaired the meeting, said: "Excuse me Mr Chesney, I think you are stepping over the bounds of decency."
This was met with shouts of "exactly", "hypocrite" and howls of derision from other opponents of Hooters in the public gallery.
A petition with more than 780 signatures opposing the licensing committee's decision to allow the restaurant to open was submitted by another campaigner, Stephanie Poyntz.
The statements opposing Hooters were met with rounds of applause from the public gallery, the Labour group and a handful of other councillors.

“I see these "feminists" have also managed to get the comments pages on Hooters closed down by complaining about everything they do not like.
Well Done Girls.
Soon nothing will be open.”

“Sian....what about guys being objectified by male models, mens health etc etc, sorry but I dont think men complain (at least I haven't heard it). So wearing a tight top and shorts is sexual objectification? Have you EVER been out on a friday/saturday night, look at all of the femals choosing to wear what they do, I dont have a problem with it...some look good, some look awful but it is their choice to do so. I simply dont understand the nanny state culture where everyone is told what they must and musnt do, what they must and musnt wear, how they must and must not think. I accept you have your views but I dont agree with them because I prefer to promote peoples ability to choose. It is their life, if they wish to get a job in hooters (or anywhere) then fair play to them, let them get on with it.”

“JX, i would refer you to take a look at the studies i quote in my comment below as to why we should be concerned about the increased sexual objectification of women. the high levels of violence in teen relationships and high levels of mental disorder in teen girls should be a good place to start. happy reading,”

“Quite right. I, for one, am looking forward to my work's Christmas party happening here, when Mr McTaggart decides to expand his business model.

“For gods sake, get over it.
This is a restaurant, you dont have to go and nobody is forced to work there. Those that do choose to and as such are not being taken advantage of. I am a mid twenties guy, if there was a restaurant where guys were asked to wear a uniform of board shorts and no top I wouldnt be bothered, its their choice and it would be a bit of a laugh.
Why are you all so concerned about this?”

“Plus Judy you seem to be quite touchy about being wrong - i.e. calling us fat and smelly because we have actually done some research. I don't recall resorting to childish insults in response to you?”

“Touchy? Ah yes because sexual violence, corporate bully tactics and the objectification of women are such light hearted subjects.
As for claiming credit, it's more a case of credit where credit is due Judy.
You seem to have a really negative reaction to feminist ideals that I find hard to understand. Perhaps you should try having a quick read about the impact feminism has had on the lives women in the West today?
This is pretty short and sweet:
