THE Post is holding the first of a series of "tough" hustings on Tuesday which will test the candidates' knowledge on local issues.

Three more Post hustings will be held during the next few weeks.
They will be held at:
- Anglican Chapel, Arnos Vale on Wednesday, October 31 from 1pm-2pm.
- Bristol Room, Memorial Stadium, Horfield, on Wednesday, November 7 from 7pm-8pm.
- Ashton Gate on Monday, November 12, from 7pm-8pm.
The hustings will be chaired by Post editor Mike Norton who wants to engage as many Bristolians as possible with the election. He said: "They'll be tough for the candidates, too. We won't be giving them the questions in advance so they will have to show a real depth of knowledge about the city."

“One man who said he would stand as candidate, Eric Mutch, won't be there. After all the publicity he got himself he'snoew withdrawn from the fight. Heard this on Radio Bristol yesterday. Although it was predicted on this site by yours truly, many weeks ago. As I understand it Mutch lives in Gloucestershire and says he couldn't move to Bristol in time. Ha Ha. He was having his five minutes of fame in the local media. Now we've got a Clifton publican we can vote for who's put his hat in the ring. Wonder if he'll give a pint to everybody who votes for him!”

“Ask them what Mutton Tump means. If they don't know, don't vote for them.”
