BRISTOL Rovers have confirmed that promising youngster Shaquille Hunter has put pen-to-paper on his first professional contract.

Hunter, 16, will see the two-year-deal come into effect when he turns 17 in August. The right-sided wide player has yet to make a senior debut for Rovers, but has been involved with the first-team squad on numerous occasions.

Ken Oram, head of youth at Rovers, said: "Shaquille is a gifted player, with great one-on-one ability, he is definitely a player who will excite.

"It is great to see a Bristol boy do well and it is fantastic recognition for the work that goes into our youth programme.

“You need to ask yourself about your obsession with Bristol Rovers.

Now run along and reflect on your own team's shortcomings, there's a good dullard.”

“In jan & feb we were still annoyingly close to the relegation zone. We have to trust that MM knows what he's doing. 18 years as a player and 20 years as a boss. Euro Cup Winners Cup winner & 3 promotions. I imagine he knows more about it than you. Maybe you could concentrate a bit more on your manager who has never won anything?”

“McGhee didn't play the young un's because he wanted to run the rule over the team he inherited from Buckle. Rightly so in my opinion. If hunter is good enough, he will break through.”

“Mcghee didn't play any of the youngsters at the end of last season in pretty meaningless games. Could be a long time before you see this lad.”
