Hundreds of Patchway residents woke to find their water supply cut off this morning.

A burst water main in the area meant about 350 properties were affected with residents unable to shower or make a cup of tea.

Paul Kelson, spokesman for Bristol Water, said: "The burst occurred in the early hours of this morning and we got a crew to site for just after 4:30am. The latest news from the site is that the repair is going well and we should begin to start putting supplies back on within the next hour."

“Poor souls. Life is much easier in sub-saharan Africa. Okay, so you might have to walk 20 miles to the nearest well and then 20 miles back home again each day, but at least there you never have to worry about missing out on your shower and a cuppa because a water main has burst.”

“We should all be grateful to the BEP for explaining that having water cut off means that people can't take showers or make cups of tea.”
