Full-time: Leeds United 2 Cheltenham Town 0. Two second-half goals by Jonathan Howson condemned Cheltenham Town to defeat despite a battling performance at Elland Road.

Visiting goalkeeper Scott Brown had been in fine form in the first half, making a series of saves to keep Leeds at bay, while at the other end striker Lloyd Owusu had a chance to put Cheltenham ahead shortly before half-time but saw keeper Casper Ankergren deny him.

Howson headed home the first goal of the afternoon on 54 minutes from an Andy Robinson cross, and 11 minutes later the midfielder put the game beyond Cheltenham when he slotted the ball under Brown after being set up by Fabian Delph.

The result means Martin Allen's side remain bottom of the League One table, with 12 points between them and safety.
