Historic Bristol from above
A SET of aerial images of Bristol from the early 20th century has been released online after they were almost lost forever.
The collection has been painstakingly preserved and published by English Heritage and features aerial shots of the city from as early as 1919.
The historic archive includes pictures of Weston-super-Mare, Bristol's Harbourside, East Street in Bedminster and the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
The photographs, which date from 1919 to 1953, feature on the Britain from Above website and have gone through a process of conservation and cataloguing.

Due to their age and fragility, many of the earliest plate glass negatives were close to disintegrating.
The set of photos record a chronological and geographical coverage of Britain during a period of intense and unparalleled change.
