THE Bristol Hippodrome has revealed some of the hit shows that will be making their way to the city next year.

The Full Monty, 9 to 5: The Musical, Starlight Express, Matthew Bourne's Sleeping Beauty and The Mousetrap are some of the shows being lined up.

9 to 5: The Musical is based on the 1980 movie of the same name starring Dolly Parton in her first screen role.

The singer has written the music and lyrics for the show which is about three female employees under a sexist, hypocritical, bigot of a boss who look for a way to turn the tables on him.

The Mousetrap is a murder mystery play by Agatha Christie. It opened in the West End of London in 1952, and has been running continuously since then making it the longest initial run of any play in history.

And in a world premiere The Full Monty will come to Bristol after opening in Sheffield.

It is based on the 1997 British film about six out of work Sheffield steelworkers who had nothing to lose, took the world by storm. Now they are back with the stage version – requiring the real full monty.

Oscar winning writer Simon Beaufoy has adapted his smash hit film for the stage and the musical will feature the songs from the film by Donna Summer, Rod Stewart, Hot Chocolate and Tom Jones.

He said: "Without Sheffield, there would be no Full Monty.

"It's been a long road – via Hollywood – but finally the characters are coming back home to the place where it all started. Or to put it another way, we are all genuinely chuffed to bits."
