A flood alert has been issued for the River Avon at Pill and Shirehampton because of unusually high tides.

The Environment Agency amber warning, which means flooding is possible and residents should be prepared, covers low-lying properties between Shirehampton Park and Avonmouth Bridge.

It says: "Onshore flooding may occur as a result of high water levels combined with high-energy waves."
