An 11-foot horse sculpture made from 5,000 CDs is being transported from Leicester to a Bristol charity's visitor centre tomorrow, to form part of a new exhibition.

Equine welfare charity HorseWorld will put the sculpture on show at its Whitchurch base as part of the the Recycled Sculpture Show's Horse Power themed exhibition, which will run until September 30.

The horse's creator, Dean Williams, appealed for help to transport his sculpture to Bristol as it was too large to fit in a conventional horse lorry.

A transport firm based in Leicester came to the rescue and agreed to bring the horse to Bristol free of charge.

Dean said: "I am so pleased that my horse will be cared for at HorseWorld. I know that he will be in good hands – especially if he slips a disk – and I am sure that they will help me find a good home for him when the time comes."

Dean is hoping to find a permanent home for his creation and raise funds for charity by auctioning his horse at the end of the exhibition in September.

The display is made up of 15 sculptures, all themed around recycled materials and the world of the horse. It also includes a sculpture made from horse manure by Bristol sculptor Sophie Howard.

Jess Winchester, HorseWorld's fundraising and communications manager, said: "We are delighted that Dean's CD horse can join the exhibition. It is a fantastic creation and sure to be a big attraction over the coming months.

"We really hope that the Horse Power exhibition will encourage more people to visit HorseWorld and find out more about our work with rescued horses and ponies."

Entry to the exhibition is included in admission to HorseWorld's Visitor Centre at Delmar Hall, Keynes Farm, Whitchurch.
