Somerset County League round-up: Shirehampton scored a late winner to beat Timsbury Athletic 3-2 and keep up their bid for the Somerset County League Premier Division title.

Timsbury took the lead but Shirehampton got back on terms just before the interval when striker Rich Hewitt brought down a Steve Winters free-kick and scored with a volley.

Hewitt gave his side a 2-1 lead early in the second half, which they held until the 89th minute when Winters handled the ball on the goal line to concede a penalty and was sent off.

The home side equalised from the spot-kick but Shirehampton won the game in stoppage time when Hewitt completed his hat trick.

Table-topping Bridgwater Town Reserves struggled to beat Cleeve West Town 1-0, while third-placed Cutters Friday had to settle for a 3-3 home draw against Bishops Lydeard.

Cutters took a 20th minute lead when Dan Spill set up Ryan Bending to score from 12 yards.

Bishops Lydeard made it 1-1 just before half-time when goalkeeper Nick Porter punched into his own net.

Five minutes into the second half, Bishops Lydeard took a 2-1 lead. However, five minutes later, Cutters levelled with a headed goal from a corner.

Cutters went 3-2 ahead when Scott Saunders set up Bending whose shot was handled in the area. Bending netted from the penalty.

Bishops Lydeard equalised a couple of minutes before the final whistle when a shot struck a Cutters defender and was deflected into the top corner of the net.

In the first division, manager Dave Payne made his second appearance of the season for Brislington Reserves and he guided them to a 2-0 victory at Larkhall Athletic Reserves.

Brislington took a 15th-minute lead through a Bradley Haines header and made it 2-0 on the half hour when Ryan Bath netted from the edge of the penalty area.

Fry Club's hopes of promotion were hit by a 1-0 defeat at Portishead Reserves.
