Henbury youngsters get new toy box - full of scrap
YOUNGSTERS at Henbury Court Children's Centre have a new toy box with a difference - it is full of scrap.
The new PlayPod, provided by St Werburgh charity Scrapstore, is filled with donated scrap and clean waste that businesses routinely throw away. It includes cardboard tubes, boxes, netting, unwanted phones, keyboards, packaging and steering wheels.
Children can now use the scrap for "free play" - play without defined objectives - which aims to get them to explore and investigate the world in their own time in their own way.
Day centre manager Haley Mogg said: "This is an exciting new venture for Henbury Court.

“Would of been better to give them some unwanted toys that dozens of families throw away at Christmas, as we had!! If I were given old loo tubes as a gift then I would of blocked the bloody loo's up with them!! LOL”
