Henbury were punished by newcomers Brimscombe & Thrupp, who claimed a 1-0 win.

The goal came from a corner on the right, headed across goal for Gary Probert to head home from six yards.

The other newcomers to the Gloucestershire County League this season, Kingswood, opened their campaign with a goalless draw at Hanham Athletic.

DRG Stapleton got off to a flyer with a 5-2 victory over Ellwood. Tom Lewis gave the home side the lead after 20 minutes, but in the 31st minute Byron Ranford levelled. Leon Cozens restored DRG's advantage, but Gary Wildin levelled. DRG took control through goals from Tristan Ferguson (two) and Lewis.

Berkeley Town were beaten 5-2 by Rockleaze Avonside, for whom Kristen Douglas scored twice. Troy Simpson and Mark Linton were also on target for Rockleaze, while Matt Holland scored an own goal.

Kings Stanley were 1-0 winners at Patchway Town, the goal coming from Martin McDermott. Highridge United won 2-1 against Yate Town Reserves. Mitch Kavanagh opened the scoring for the home side after 15 minutes, volleying home a free-kick from Peter Ball, and Shane Hobbs put them 2-0 up. Justin Cattle scored from the penalty spot for Yate.

Tuffley Rovers defeated Thornbury Town 2-0, while Chipping Sodbury Town's match with Axa was abandoned after 75 minutes following a serious injury to Axa's James Snook.
