Gossip are the latest act joining the T4 On the Beach Party in Weston-super-Mare this summer.

Gossip, a three-piece American Indie rock band fronted by Beth Ditto, will be performing for the first time at the event on Sunday, July 19.

The band were relatively unknown until their third studio album, Standing in the Way of Control, which has earned Gold Record Status in the UK.

Gossip's first UK TV appearance was on BBC1's Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, performing Standing in the Way of Control to a studio audience.

This led to many more TV appearances, including Beth being the host of Channel 4's The Friday Night Project, alongside Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr.

They will be joining other confirmed acts The Saturdays, Dizzee Rascal, Alesha Dixon, Metro Station, Calvin Harris, N-Dubz and Tinchy Stryder.

Alesha will be debuting as a solo artist at the party having performed in garage girl band Misteeq at the first event back in 2003.

Dizzee also makes a long-awaited return as does Calvin, who both performed to sell-out crowds in 2007.

Organisers have already confirmed this year's party is already a complete sell-out, but those who missed out can watch the gig on Channel 4.

Under 12s will need to be accompanied by an adult.

T4 says the complete line-up, which will include more than 20 more acts added, will be announced in the coming months.

Acts performing last year included American stars Ne Yo and Kelly Rowland, Duffy, Scouting For Girls, The Ting Tings, The Pigeon Detectives and McFly.

A second stage was also constructed by 4 Music alongside the T4 double decker bus for the second year running. It saw performances from Sugerbabes, Five 0'Clock Heroes with special guest appearances by Agyness Deyn, Dirty Pretty Things, The Automatic, One Eskimo, The Script, Black Kids, Lightspeed Champion and Envy and Other Sins.

Organisers cannot say at this stage whether any of these acts will be returning this year. However, McFly have attended for four consecutive years, so it is likely they could make another return.

T4 presenters Steve Jones, Miquita Oliver and Rick Edwards will be hosting the party this year.

The summer music event is now in its seventh year and is being staged in Weston for sixth year running.

It normally boosts the local economy to the tune of about £3 million as every hotel and B&B gets filled and many vacancies have already been filled.

A host of celebrities are expected to descend on Weston to watch the acts and mingle back stage. Last year a plethora of celebrities were seen including the stars of Hollyoaks, EastEnders and fashion guru Gok Wan.
