Former Clifton head coach Dave Healy has virtually handed the South West One title to his old club after Weston-super-Mare beat second-placed Bournemouth 24-16.

Flanker George Wright, on his full debut, clinched the spoils for the Seasiders when intercepting and running in from halfway on 56 minutes.

The club's other try came from another young back-row forward, Dan Fry, while fly-half James Mackay landed a conversion and three penalties.

Clevedon have now claimed five wins in a row in South West Two West after beating St Ives 7-6.

The club are up to fourth from bottom despite being the basement side for much of this season.

No 8 James Shopland grabbed Clevedon's only try. Fly-half Tom Thie added the extras.

Avonmouth's hopes of finishing second and winning a play-off spot are back alive after they won 36-12 at Yatton and second-placed Newton Abbot suffered a shock 41-8 loss at basement side Walcot.

Avonmouth trail their Devon rivals on points difference but there is only one game left this season. Avonmouth are at home to Torquay, while Newton Abbot host Brixham on Saturday, April 18.

The Bristol side had the two points in the bag when leading 31-0 at half-time against Yatton.

Tries were scored by Charlie Reynolds (2), Gary Leadbeater 2, Ryan Templar and Greg Long. Andy Taylor (2) and Reynolds hit the conversions.

Yatton replied through tries by Glen Jones and Mike Harris. Tony Hill landed a conversion.

St Mary's let a 14-0 lead slip to trail 24-14 at half-time before losing 34-29 to Sidmouth.
