Healey's a clear winner after huge catch of carp at Kingston Seymour
A COLD wind lowered water temperatures and weights fell well below par for the talented band of Bristol PSV AC members who fished the club's Sunday match at Acorn Carp Fishery, Kingston Seymour.
The winning weight came from peg seven and fell to Alan Healey, who romped home a comfortable winner with a superb 135-14-0 of mostly carp, ranging in weight from 2-0-0 to almost 6-0-0.

Healey fed and fished maggot over groundbait within 12 inches of the island and caught fish regularly for the whole six-hour match. He put a second carp net in at 1.30pm, after which he caught a fish with almost every put-in and called for a third at 3pm.
He said: "I had no idea how the match was fishing, but unknowingly at the time, when I called for a second net, I had already done enough to win.

"I knew I was doing well, but when fishing a well-stocked lake anything can happen, so I got my head down and never relaxed until I heard the all-out shout.
"The fish at Acorn vary so much in size that it is difficult to keep an accurate account of what is in each net. I called for each extra net well before they had reached their 70lb limit, just to be sure of not being disqualified."
The runner-up was Eddie Wynne, who set his stall out for silverfish and easily won the category.
He said: "I poled maggot at 11 metres, but although I had silverfish in mind, I was quite happy to net anything that came along."
Wynne caught more fish than any other competitor, but as most silverfish are generally much lighter than carp, he came nowhere near registering the top weight.
Result: Alan Healey 135-14-0, peg 7; 2, Eddie Wynne 59-9-0, peg 8; 3, Adam Caswell 39-4-0, peg 17; 4, Simon Belcham 36-3-0, peg 10; 5, Rich Jones 31-9-0, peg 11.
Silverfish: 1, Eddie Wynne 18-10-0, peg 8; 2, Mike Wilson 6-6-0, peg 18.
Tom Thick reaped the benefit of a well-stocked Paddock Match Lake by scoring a double ton in the Avon Angling 'Midweek Open', fished at Acorn Carp Fishery, Kingston Seymour.

Overall: 1, Tom Thick (Thatchers Tackle) 202-5-0, peg 26; 2, Tony Rixon (Avon Angling Mosella) 106-11-0, peg 24; 3, Jason Radford (Avon Angling) 106-1-0, peg 1; 4, Rich Coles 77-12-0, peg 10; 5, Matt Tomes (Avon Angling) 77-9-0, peg 6; 6, Ziggy Slowinski 67-8-0, peg 5.
