Ricky 'The Hitman' Hatton has been warned about his boozy habits by trainer Floyd Mayweather Senior.

And the American fight legend will be in Bristol next week to ensure the IBO light welterweight king stays on the straight and narrow.

Hatton dons his promotional hat to stage his second professional boxing show in the city inside three months.

Local hero Danny Butler will top the bill at the Marriott Hotel on Saturday, March 14 and the 'Hitman' is booked to deliver one of his notorious after-dinner speeches to a corporate audience shortly before the eight-fight show gets underway.

Hatton, who promotes in association with Bristol-based Jane Couch, brought the house down when he addressed a dinner show audience at the same venue in December.

Fresh from beating American Pauli Malignaggi, the Mancunian let his hair down and enjoyed several pints of his favourite Guinness tipple.

But Mayweather Senior will be present on this occasion and his brief is to keep Hatton off the booze.

He said: "I don't like boxers drinking and Ricky would be much better off without it.

"He could get whooped by a nobody because he is doing the wrong thing with his body.

"I've spoken to him about it and I hope he gets the message. I want him to leave it alone. It's going to catch up with him somewhere down the line.

"Maybe he doesn't care about his reputation because, if he did, he wouldn't do this."

Hatton has again booked Mayweather Senior to train him in preparation for his May 2 super-fight with Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Tickets for Hatton's afternoon speaking engagement sold out within hours of going on sale last month, but there are still seats to be had for the boxing.
