STAR MAN: Chris Mizir was the pivotal figure as he scored a hat-trick to help Filton Athletic beat Rangeworthy 4-1 in the first round of the GFA Junior Cup.

The striker was on top form as his movement and power proved too much for the Rangeworthy defence. He was a constant thorn in their side, getting into threatening positions and finishing well from these areas.

His first goal came from a flick-on by strike-partner Luke Walker, Mizir reacted first and headed the ball past his man, before finishing on the half-volley, hitting the ball into the bottom left corner.

The second came as he received the ball in the box. He showed impressive ball control – managed to manoeuvre his way round a couple of defenders – before slotting the ball past the keeper.

Mizir completed his hat-trick midway through the second half. He gained possession of the ball following a long-throw, moved into the area and shot convincingly into the bottom left corner.

Filton Athletic manager, Darren Jones, said: "Chris has been unlucky with injuries so far this season, but he is known around Bristol as being a good finisher and today he showed he can finish."

Mizir said: "I've only just come back recently and my fitness is getting better. I finished well today. It was a whole team performance, everyone played well."

As the season progresses, Mizir will have an important role to play for Filton Athletic. He showed a great instinct for goals. As well as his ability to score, he displayed good movement, strength and ball control. He was a real handful and Rangeworthy won't be the only team to struggle to cope with him.
