A man has been arrested in Hartcliffe after threatening police officers with an axe.

Officers were visiting a property in the area when a 49 -year-old a man began weilding the axe at officers.

He was overpowered by the officers who arrested him on suspicion of affray.

The suspect is currently in police custody.
