Harsh deal for Otis Ferry
YOUR reporter, Tom Morris on the Otis Ferry exclusive (September 20) was absolutely spot on.
If it had been an ordinary man or woman in the street, Joe Public would not bat an eyelid, but because Otis has a famous father it makes headlines.
It makes me sick. Could the Press give us real stories in the future, instead of a person's notoriety, it becomes so predictable.
If this offence was committed by any girl or boy, it would be a slap on the wrist and a couple of hours cleaning up graffiti.
Our judges are laughable. Three youths can beat a person half to death and get two years in prison (and will probably serve half of the sentence), while Otis gets remanded in custody for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and is now being unfairly treated because he is a figurehead of the countryside.
I can remember back in the 1960s, while at a local hunt meeting, when we and the horses and hounds were set upon by a group of students who were employed that morning by some antis.
When the hounds came under fire, the supporters including myself stepped in and stopped these people from hurting the hounds.
We all went to court and the magistrates supported us for protecting the hounds, and the students were severely reprimanded.
I pray that Otis carries on supporting the countryside and all he believes in, and he gets my support.
