AVON Angling's Phil Harding poled a banded 8mm pellet shallow over a 6mm feed at 13 metres centre off Match 21 and the peg came up with a winning 129-8-0 of quality carp in the Avon Angling Midweek Open fished on Landsend Fisheries' Specimen and Match Lakes at Wedmore.

The runner-up was match organiser Tony Rixon, who fished similarly at Specimen Lake 33 and ran in just one fish short of a winning weight with a 20 carp catch totalling 124-11-0.

The weight of one good fish also separated the top two silverfish placings.

Nigel Bartlett and Dean Malin poled chopped worm and caster into the island and lakeside margins of Match 11 and Specimen 36 respectively with the former finishing 5-5-0 clear with a 39-9-0 mixed bag.
