Happy Mondays set to play outdoor gig at Bristol's Vegfest
THE original Happy Mondays will headline a 5,000-capacity outdoor gig in the heart of Bristol in May when they take centre stage at VegfestUK.
The Mondays, who sprung out of Manchester's indie underground in the late 1980s and boast such hits as Step On, Hallelujah and 24 Hour Party People, will be helping Bristol celebrate the vegetarian and vegan festival's tenth birthday party on Saturday, May 25.

From 11am until 6pm on the Saturday and Sunday, visitors can expect a feast of different cuisine from across the globe, along with 125 stalls crammed with goodies including food, bodycare, clothes, fashion and accessories.
There will also be recipes, nutritional information, cookery demos, talks, a cinema and a host of entertainment.
By night, Bristol is in for a musical as well as foodie treat as some big-name bands crank up the volume.
The internationally renowned French electro swing and Gypsy jazz kings Caravan Palace headline Friday, while seminal Jamaican roots reggae group The Abyssinians, famous for their close vocal harmonies, take to the stage on Sunday.
But it's the original Happy Mondays line-up, back together and playing Saturday night, that people will be talking about.
Fronted by Shaun Ryder, Happy Mondays' rhythmic blend of house music, funk, and northern soul made them a household name before their inevitable excess-fuelled implosion in the mid-Nineties.
Having Happy Mondays headline is the icing on the vegan cake for VegfestUK, which looks set to be a huge success.
