Hapless Todd slips and slides to the top
They'll have to go back and re-edit every one of those 100 Greatest TV Moments countdown shows.
New in at number one is ex-EastEnder Todd Carty, pictured making ITV1's normally dull and pointless Dancing on Ice a one-man show by giving us the funniest thing I've seen in all my born days.
-

If you missed it, I implore you to go on to that interweb computer thing and find the clip on YouTube where it has become an overnight phenomenon, and it doesn't get any less amusing the more times you see it.
Truth is, I've even given myself a mouth ulcer this week from biting my lip to stop myself laughing out loud whenever I've thought about it while on the rare trip away from my sofa into the outside world.
It was precisely 8.10pm last Sunday. Susie Lipanova, Todd Slippingover's dance partner/crutch, had just about succeeded in holding him upright for the first 60 seconds of their routine when he reached a breakneck five mph, let go of her hands and promptly exited stage-left through the entrance tunnel like Frank Spencer on roller-skates, whirling his arms in the air wildly as his feet took on a life of their own as a pair of wobbly supermarket trolley wheels.
How he stayed on his feet at all is a mystery, but it wouldn't have been half as funny had he fallen.
Everything about it was perfect – Carty's Summertime Special orange-and-silver striped jacket, commentator Tony Gubba's Barry Gibb falsetto impression as he lost all composure.
And the background music, Help by the Beatles, which accompanied Carty's disappearance from view with the line: "Help me get my feet back on the ground." I would tell you what the judges said, but it's not easy taking down notes when you've collapsed to the floor with tears of laughter streaming down your face, even on the 20th viewing.
As I predicted two weeks ago, he's the new John Sergeant, except (with no small help from a slippery surface) 10 times funnier.
The only question is how does he top that tomorrow night?
I'll be watching, Todd with a tube of Bonjela ready.
