Hancorn is top player at halfway

THE Bristol & District Snooker League reached the halfway stage of the 2008-2009 season with just one team and two players unbeaten.

Hanham Folk Centre, top of Division I, are the only unbeaten team, while Ben Hancorn, of Long Ashton British Legion, has won all 10 of his matches and Craig Johnson Allen, of Pot Black Club A, is unbeaten from six matches.

Other players having a successful season in the Premier Division include James Bennett (Page A) with 11 wins out of 12, Darren Dunne (Pot Black A) 9/10, Neil Walsh (Pot Black A) 8/10, Steve Seager (Long Ashton) 10/12, Shane Tovey (Long Ashton) 7/8, Steve Winstone (Dundry) 10/12, Steve Weaver (Dundry) 7/9 and Jamie Thornbury (Warmley), in his first season, 9/13.

Top players in Divison I are all Hanham Folk players – Jamie Skinner, Shaun Mulcahy, Craig Pullin, Nick Verrinder and Grant Hewitt.

Other players playing well are Steve Crocker and Ian Wakley of Rileys (Yate) A Team 9/11 and 10/12 respectively, Barry Gazzard and Alan Pearce of Backwell Village 12/13 and 9/11 respectively, Craig Toomer (St Annes D) 6/7, Derek Ellis (Whitchurch A) 10/12, Paul Honess (Masters Redwood), 10/13, Martin Harris (Snooker City A) 11/13, Darren Gardner (Snooker City A) 10/12 and Andy Walker (Somerville) 11/12.
