Hancock's hundred is terrific for Clevedon

Former Gloucestershire skipper Tim Hancock made a century on his debut to guide Clevedon to a 32-run victory against newcomers Bedminster.

Hancock (109 from 140 balls, including 14 fours) and fellow opener John Bachelor (74 from 107 balls, including seven fours) put on 186 for the first wicket in Clevedon's 261-3.

Bedminster finished on 229-6 with Waleed Abbasi hitting 61, while Chris McCormack made 48 not out.

Former Gloucestershire batsman Rob Cunliffe made just 17, while Hancock took two wickets.

Brislington, who lost by six wickets against Midsomer Norton, collapsed to 94 after being put into bat. Andrew Cox took 5-31.

Nick Pang top-scored with 26 as Norton claimed victory in 25.1 overs.

North Perrott won by 36 runs against Stapleton thanks to skipper and wicketkeeper Dave Dyer hitting an unbeaten century.

Dyer was well supported by Joel Tratt (51).

Despite no batsman providing a decent innings, Stapleton progressed to 165, but were well beaten.

Stephen Hayes claimed 6-15 as Minehead beat Ashcott & Shapwick by four wickets.

Tom Naylor hit 48 as Lansdown defeated Winterbourne by four wickets.

Ross Wilson (36 not out off 41 balls) and Sam Bracey (29 not out off 47 balls) finished with a flourish for Winterbourne, but Lansdown claimed the win with 23 balls to spare.

In Bristol & North Somerset, former Premier One side Frenchay claimed an opening day victory when beating Timsbury by 49 runs.

Wayne Kylander hit 68 in his first match back at Frenchay after three years at Winterbourne. Stuart Gould finished on 47.

Bishopston opened their campaign with a three-wicket loss to Shirehampton.

Martyn Bowyer took 3-22 then scored 50 before Shirehampton claimed the victory with one ball to spare.

Claverham squeezed home by five runs against Chipping Sodbury. Matthew Davis hit 48 in Yatton-based Claverham's 147.

James Hicks then hit 44 off 53 balls but Sodbury were restricted to 142 with James Downes taking 4-23.

Greg Malkin claimed 4-17 as Old Bristolians Westbury beat Hambrook by five wickets, while Nailsea beat Congresbury by four wickets.

Paul Brean made 67 in Congresbury's 170-7, Russell Baker taking 4-31 before hitting 76 to set Nailsea on the way to victory.

Rockhampton lost their opening Gloucestershire/Wiltshire Division match by 87 runs against Swindon at the Boundary Field.

Opener Matt Hobbs scored 70 as Marshfield won by four wickets against Stroud.

l Haydn Watts hit 55 but could not prevent Uphill Castle losing by six wickets to Wembdon in the Somerset Division.
