Hallissey aiming to impress at Great South run
BRISTOL & West AC Olympic marathon runner Claire Hallissey is among the entries for the BUPA Great South Run ten miles road race in Southsea on Sunday.
Hallissey, pictured below, was last week told that she had been promoted onto UK Athletics' World Class Performance Programme. The three-times Olympian and Bristol & West AC life member Jo Pavey has also been restored to the WCPP scheme and is also due to take part in Sunday's race.

The Bristol Schools' Cross County Championships will take part at the Bristol Grammar School sports fields in Failand on Wednesday, November 28 (2.15pm). The North Somerset Schools event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14 at Hutton Moor.
The second race in the Pomphrey Sports 5K winter road series will be held a week today (October 30) with registration from 6.30pm with the race starting at 7.30pm. For full details see the race website at: http://www.bristolandwestac.org.

Veteran Terry Fenton, of Great Western Runners, finished 87th of 203 finishers in the Weymouth 10 miles road race in a time of 79mins 18secs.
Entries for the 2012 Christmas Cracker in Weston-super-Mare have now closed as the 2000 limit has been reached.
Bristol & West AC's Shaun Antell finished 14th in the Bupa Great Birmingham Run half marathon in a time of 70mins 41secs, just six seconds outside his personal best.
Mike Blackmore, of Bitton Road Runners, won the second race in the Weston Prom 5 miles road race series in a time of 27mins 34secs, nine seconds clear of Westbury Harriers' Scott Campbell with Steve Goss (Bristol & West) third in 27:45.
Westbury's Lucy Richens was top woman (30:11) .
