Hall's strike is good enough for victory
LYDIA Hall scored the only goal of the game as AEK Boco White Unde-10s edged a close match with AEK Boco Red 1-0. They didn't have it all their own way and when Reds' Anais Taylor broke away, Whites defender and player-of-the-match Lucy Withey and her keeper Georgia Allen managed between them to halt the forward's progress, all three clashing heavily in the throes and tumbling on to the cold pitch as the first half ended in goalless deadlock.
Eventually, the breakthrough came 21 minutes into the second period when Hall broke away to finish with a sweet right-footed strike.
Reds fought hard in response, but the strong Whites defence of Withey, Trixie Willis, Allen and second-half keeper and skipper Ellie Staples, who made a superb save, shut them out.
Midfielders Millie Lacey, Mia Brain and Alex Titcomb, plus striker Olivia Owen, all played their part well too for Whites.

Bradley Stoke Under-10s secured their fifth straight win of 2013 and returned to the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Bristol Ladies Union Yellow.
They took the lead on ten minutes when Aimee Jones latched on to a pass on the edge of the box and her finish beat the away keeper after some fine work in midfield by Naomi Adams.
The second half saw a Bristol Ladies charge as they tested Paige Fowler, who produced some fine stops, on several occasions. Stoke were also grateful to Millie Eveleigh, Daisy Ackerman and Leah Powell for proving extremely resolute in defence.
Stoke created their own chances too, with Maddie Hilbert and Kayleigh Jennings both going close to scoring, but with five minutes left Jennings did find herself some space just inside the box and a powerful shot beat the keeper at her near post to secure Stoke the three points.
AEK Boco and local rivals Longwell Green met for the first time this term with both in need of three points near the foot of the under-12s table, but having to content themselves with a point apiece from a 1-1 draw. Late on in the first half, skipper Laura Norris passed the ball through to striker and star player on the day Jessica Titcomb, who managed to lose her defender and hit a perfect finish into the net to hand Boco a slender half-time lead.
Longwell Green turned up the heat after the break in search of an equaliser and it came when Boco keeper Ashleigh Hutson was unable to get a hand to a hard strike from a deflected corner kick.
Nevertheless, there were good midfield displays by Boco's Olivia Allen, Robyn Carpenter, Sophie Young and Norris to give them cause for encouragement.
Hannah Price hit a hat-trick as Lawrence Weston Colts Under-12s swept to a fighting 5-3 victory over Bristol Ladies Union.
The prolific Price was on the attack from the start and scored after five minutes, only for battling Bristol Ladies to respond with two breakaway goals to take a 2-1 lead ten minutes into the second half.
With Colts defender Chloe Smith having to go off with a shoulder injury, it was down to Charity Morris, Olivia Burton, Emma Anderson and Abigail Price to keep a very tight backline, while Chloe Howourth produced some fine saves.
However, with player-of-the-match Sophie Price and Madison Price running their hearts out in midfield, the pressure eventually paid off with Madison scoring twice and Hannah completing her treble to ensure Colts three more points.
Strikers Mia Williams and Lois Townsend scored either side of the interval as Brislington Under-15s clinched a 2-0 victory over travelling Bristol Ladies Union.
Yet Bris' defence of Molly Weaving, Charlie Osborne, Casie Dixon, Chloe Nelson, Yasmine Kassous and Abbie Nicholas had to be on their toes as they were tested early on by a game Union outfit. However, the hosts were ultimately rewarded for their collective hard work with a clean sheet and three fighting points.
