DEADLY Danny Graham grabbed a hat-trick to end Yeovil Town's

unbeaten League One record.

The former Middlesbrough striker's third, fourth and fifth

goals of the season gave Carlisle a deserved victory after

Gavin Tomlin had handed the Glovers the lead.

Manager Russell Slade made three attacking substitutions,

bringing on Lloyd Owusu, Andre McCollin and James Dayton, but

after the third goal the result was not in doubt.

And teenager Gary Madine made it 4-1 on the counter-attack in

the final minute to ensure a long journey back to Somerset will

feel even longer for Slade's men.

Yeovil had suffered a pre-match blow when Nathan Smith, who

has had a groin problem, failed to come through the warm-up

after being named in the team. Marc Bircham was promoted from

the bench to fill out the midfield.

Lee Peltier was booked in the eighth minute when Simon Hackney

turned him and looked set to get away down the left until the

right-back's crude challenge sent him flying.

Graham had the first effort when he poked a cross-shot from

Cleveland Taylor that Asmir Begovic easily saved.

But it was Yeovil who went ahead on 15 minutes. A right-wing

corner was not cleared and Gavin Tomlin and Marc Bircham both

had shots blocked from close range before Tomlin finally struck

home his third goal of the season.

And number four almost came four minutes later when Terry

Skiverton headed down a free kick and Tomlin got in front of

his man but failed to make contact at the near post.

Peter Murphy's low shot was easily dealt with by Begovic but

Carlisle threatened again when Danny Graham headed just over at

the near post from a Taylor cross.

Simon Hackney was looking a threat down the Carlisle left and

his low cross should have been converted by Graham who slid the

ball into the side-netting.

And the hosts came close again when Marc Bridge-Wilkisnon's

free-kick was headed wide by Murphy. And the Glovers failed to

hold on until the break when Peter Murphy headed down a

set-piece and Graham swooped to score.

Goalscorer Tomlin was replaced by last season's leading

marksman Owusu at the break. And the Ghanaian almost scored

with a freak bouncing header with his first touch but Ben

Williams tipped it over for a corner.

And Owusu was presented with another chance seconds later

after a shocking clearance from Williams fell straight to him.

However, the former Crewe keeper then made a decent save to

partly atone for his error.

Carlisle went ahead on 58 minutes when Hackney set up Taylor

to cross from the right and Danny Carlton got above Lee Peltier

to deliver a downward header that Begovic could only parry.

Graham reacted first to the rebound to tap in.

Yeovil almost hit back when a Paul Warne cross from the right

saw substitute McCollin glanced his header just wide.

But Carlisle had the two-goal lead they craved and Graham was

guaranteed of the matchball after 68 minutes. A persistent run

down the left from Taylor ended with a rash challenge from

Peltier, forcing ref Graham Laws to point to the spot. Graham

sent Begovic the wrong way from 12 yards.

On 90 minutes Bircham was booked for a grapple off the ball

and Carlisle raced up the other end with Taylor crossing for

young sub Madine to fire in his first senior goal to complete a

rout.
