HAVING opened in 1939 RAF Bridgnorth served the training needs of the RAF until closure in February 1963. Ideas are now being sought as to how in 2013 we could commemorate the 50th anniversary of the closure. So far, consensus seems to favour a parade through the town. The preferred date would be Saturday June 1, the date before the annual NASRAF parade at nearby Cosford. An opportunity exists to express your opinion on how the anniversary should be commemorated. See the special page of the RAF Bridgnorth web site at www.rafbridgnorth.org.uk or contact Peter Williams on 01454 882803. Former recruits who passed through RAF Bridgnorth are now at least 70. This may be the last opportunity for sufficient numbers to meet and remember their time at Bridgnorth.
