HALF-TIME: Birmingham City 0, Bristol City 0
After four home games without a victory and desperate to put the record straight in front of their own fans, Birmingham demonstrated their attacking intent from the outset, Wade Elliott testing Dean Gerken with a ferocious shot that stung the keeper's hands.
Although City were keeping the Blues at arms' length, their inability to retain possession meant caused them some anxious moments and skipper Liam Fontaine was forced into evasive action, blocking a curling effort from livewire winger Chris Burke.
On one of the rare occasions they did summon sufficient fluency to trouble Birmingham, City almost profited from incisive interaction between Sam Baldock and Albert Adomah, culminating in the latter's rasping drive being held by England keeper Jack Butland.
Encouraged by that near miss, the Robins again went close when Fontaine met a Cole Skuse corner with a header that drew a smart reaction save from Butland.

That elicited a response from the home side and Gerken saved smartly from Marlon King, while Elliott shot over wastefully from the edge of the 18 yard box.
