Guilty plea over Avonmouth fight
Aaron Baker, 29, of Coleridge Road, pleaded guilty to affray after an incident outside Avonmouth working men's club on January 1 2008 that preceded the death of Darren Jones, 34.
Baker also pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm on Mr Jones' father, David, in the same incident.
Ray Tully, prosecuting, said the Crown felt it would not succeed if it prosecuted Baker for manslaughter, as there is no definitive evidence to prove it. He also said Darren Jones' cause of death was attributed to medical complications.
Baker was bailed with conditions. He will be sentenced on a date to be fixed towards the end of July.
