Guides take over Bristol restaurant kitchen
If there was a Michelin star badge for Girl Guides, some of these youngsters would be well on their way to getting one.
Members of the 197 Bristol Guides took over the Juniper restaurant in Cotham for the night to raise money for charity.
Three girls worked as chefs, while seven others were waitresses for a busy evening's service.
A Masterchef-style competition was held to win the chance of cooking in the kitchen alongside owner and head chef Nick Kleiner.
And the winning team – Holly Harris, Ruby Crocker and Alice Stirling – had their dishes featured on the menu.
Restaurant manageress and Guide leader Wendy Ilderton said: "The girls love cooking so we thought it would be a great idea for them to take over a restaurant for the night while raising money for charity."
It is the centenary of the Girl Guides next year and this year the movement is raising money for 19 charities. A 10 per cent service charge on each table, matched by Mr Kleiner, is being donated to Save The Children. The total came to £316.
The 197 Guides are based at St Matthew's Church, Cotham.
